Mariam Sulakian

Sulakian is proficient in Python, R, Java and Swift, and design tools such as Illustrator, Framer, Premiere Pro, SketchUp, In Design, Photoshop, RStudio, XCode, and Final Cut Pro. As an engineering intern at Facebook, Sulakian has worked on an environmental friendly iOS application to help users split gas costs with friends on carpools. She currently works as a multimedia project studio tech consultant for Duke's Office of Information Technology and provides front line technology support to students. In 2016, she worked as a technical support manager/research assistant at the Duke Immersive Virtual Environment where she helped maintain the virtual reality lab's software systems. In 2015, she worked as an application developer for the Institute for Brain Sciences at Duke, and developed experiments in Swift to help test app users' ethics and behavior. She also worked as a web development for a non-governmental organization (NGO) called Hanganak where she managed their web, social media and photo/video projects. As a legislative Intern for the U.S. House of Representatives with California's 18th Congressional District, she worked with Congresswoman Anna Eshoo and conducted research, analysis and drafted responses to constituent inquiries. She is a member of the Duke Chapter of the Association for Business Oriented Women, and a mentor in the Girls Engineering Change program. Sulakian speaks Armenian, Russian and Spanish.
