Joyce Choi

Choi was part of the inaugural Duke Technology Scholars program in 2016 and served as a Full-Stack Software Engineering Intern for Carbon3D in Redwood City, CA. at Carbon, she customized e-commerce and gained extensive experience in Ruby on Rails. She has served on the engineering team, outreach team and hardware team responsible for organizing the HackDuke competition. She was also previously a bioinformatics research intern at Georgetown Cancer Research Center in Washington, DC, where she wrote code in MATLAB, R and Java to process data for analysis. She has served as an Undergraduate Teaching Assistant for CS 230: Discrete Math for Computer Science. And she is the founder and lead instructor for Girls CodeIT, a summer computer science that introduces girls in grades 6-10 to computer science in the context of social good. She teaches App Inventor, Scratch, Google CS First Curriculum, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS as part of the camp curriculum.
