In the summer of 2016, Duke launched the Duke Technology Scholars Program (DTech). During the 12-week internship program in Silicon Valley, California, 10 talented young women expanded their technical skills, built confidence and professional networks, and envisioned rewarding careers in the technology industry.

The inaugural DTech Scholars:

• Interned at tech companies, including Carbon 3D, LinkedIn, Apple, Fanatics, LifeLock, and Intuit
• Participated in a Leadership Boot Camp that included self-assessment pre-work and reviews, a principles and dynamics exercise, and sessions on how to give and receive feedback and get the most out of an internship
• Received supportive mentorship from Duke alumni and industry experts
• Engaged in networking opportunities, including a summer mixer with Duke's Northern California Women's Forum at the new West Coast headquarters of Fanatics, an online retailer of licensed sports apparel and merchandise
